Founded in 1984, the Charlotte Shag Club is one of the oldest shag clubs in existence. Membership typically exceeds 300 and is open to anyone 21 or older. Dues are $25 per year.

The club's President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant at Arms, are elected annually by the membership. The new president then appoints the various committee heads -- membership, social, communications, etc. The elected officers and the committee heads, along with the prior year's president, make up the Board of Directors which meets monthly to discuss new applications for membership, financial matters, and upcoming events. All meetings are governed by a set of internally-written bylaws.

We dance on Thursday nights at Lynn's starting at 8:00pm to a variety of well-known DJ's. On any given night, there is a balance between singles and couples.

The club also holds shag lessons, special parties, bus trips, and fund-raisers throughout the year. When possible, monies are donated to various charities as approved by the Board of Directors.
